In the 1950s our papou was one of the first in Athens to deliver coffee on a tray, carrying the office workers their kafedaki right to the desk. Greek families like ours went on to teach Australia how to love coffee, one milk bar and one kafeneio at a time; places where the regulars belonged and your order was known before you sat down.
